The Chile Earthquake
Gave Us Shorter Days

The Chile Earthquake of Feb. 27, 2010 shows what a powerful effect these events can have on our planet. The Earth's rotation was actually changed, affecting day length. Read other (not-quite-so-earth-shaking) news that has come to light in the last month or so to help show that we close to Earth's final events. There are more environmental concerns, more warnings about the economy and the still-very-present threat of war involving Iran.

Again, take note that in the articles below I am simply sharing items of interest. That does not imply that I agree with everything presented. I do however, feel they may be related in some way to fulfillment of prophecy and that is why I include them. While the events they point to keep seeming to be delayed, they will eventually come. Take heart, and keep looking up for our redemption from this earth is drawing near. (Luke 21:28)

Chile Earthquake May Have Shortened Days On Earth

"The massive 8.8 earthquake that struck Chile may have changed the entire Earth's rotation and shortened the length of days on our planet, a NASA scientist said Monday.

"The quake, the seventh strongest earthquake in recorded history, hit Chile Saturday and should have shortened the length of an Earth day by 1.26 milliseconds, according to research scientist Richard Gross at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.

"'Perhaps more impressive is how much the quake shifted Earth's axis,' NASA officials said in a Monday update."

In a 2003 Los Angeles Times report, Sue Hough, a seismologist in the Pasadena office of the U.S. Geological Survey said, "This is the fault that could eat L.A."

The Puente Hills fault, which winds through the area's fractured underbelly for about 25 miles -- from northern Orange County to Beverly Hills -- has generated at least four earthquakes ranging from magnitude 7.2 to 7.5 in the last 11,000 years, according to a study published in the journal Science.

"The bad news," the report said, "is that when the Puente Hills thrust fault ruptures in an earthquake, it tends to do so in a very big way."

Tuesday's magnitude-4.4 quake struck at 4:04 a.m. and was centered 1 mile east-northeast of Pico Rivera, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Experts: L.A. Quake Fault "Capable of Massive Temblor"

Los Angeles --The moderate earthquake that struck the Los Angeles area Tuesday likely occurred a long a fault that could generate a much stronger, major quake in the future, according to scientists.

Seismologists say the Puente Hills thrust system could touch off earthquakes up to magnitude 7.5 directly underneath downtown Los Angeles. Such temblors would prove larger than any in the modern history of the Los Angeles Basin."

Growing Low-Oxygen Zones In Oceans Worry Scientists
By: Les Blumenthal / News.Yahoo.com / January 25, 2010

low oxygen

WASHINGTON -- Lower levels of oxygen in the Earth's oceans, particularly off the United States' Pacific Northwest coast, could be another sign of fundamental changes linked to global climate change, scientists say.

"They warn that the oceans' complex undersea ecosystems and fragile food chains could be disrupted.

"In some spots off Washington state and Oregon , the almost complete absence of oxygen has left piles of Dungeness crab carcasses littering the ocean floor, killed off 25-year-old sea stars, crippled colonies of sea anemones and produced mats of potentially noxious bacteria that thrive in such conditions.

"Areas of hypoxia, or low oxygen, have long existed in the deep ocean. These areas -- in the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans -- appear to be spreading, however, covering more square miles, creeping toward the surface and in some places, such as the Pacific Northwest, encroaching on the continental shelf within sight of the coastline."

Al-Qaida "Certain" To Attack U.S.

al qaida

"The Obama administration's top intelligence officials on Tuesday described it as 'certain' that al-Qaeda or its allies will try to attack the United States in the next six months, and they called for new flexibility in how U.S. officials detain and question terrorist suspects.

"The officials, testifying before the Senate intelligence committee, also warned of increased risk of cyber-attacks in the coming months, saying that the recent China-based hacking of Google's computers was both a 'wake-up call' and a forerunner to future strikes aimed at businesses or intended to cause economic disruption.

"'Al-Qaeda maintains its intent to attack the homeland -- preferably with a large-scale operation that would cause mass casualties, harm the U.S. economy or both,' Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair told the committee in a hearing convened to assess threats against the country.

"Blair, flanked by the directors of the CIA and FBI and the chief intelligence officers of the State and Defense departments, put al-Qaeda at the top of a threat list that included the Iranian and North Korean nuclear programs, criminal cartels and the potential for economic collapse in developing countries hard-hit by recession."

Final Destination Iran?

bunker buster

"Hundreds of powerful US "bunker-buster" bombs are being shipped from California to the British island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean in preparation for a possible attack on Iran.

"'They are gearing up totally for the destruction of Iran,' said Dan Plesch, director of the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy at the University of London, co-author of a recent study on US preparations for an attack on Iran. 'US bombers are ready today to destroy 10,000 targets in Iran in a few hours,' he added."

Dire Warning: Israel Must Strike Iran Now
Tehran will have nukes before U.N., Obama do anything, says diplomat
WorldNetDaily.com / March 7, 2010

dire warning

"The only action that can stop Iran from building nuclear weapons is an Israeli strike on Tehran's nuclear facilities, argued John Bolton, the former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. under the Bush administration.

"Bolton warned time is running out for an Israeli attack.

"'Right now we know about the facilities . . . We know where they are,' he said. 'We know exactly what their dimensions are, and I think they are susceptible to an Israeli attack.'

"Continued Bolton: 'Since I don't see any possibility that the Obama administration will use military force, I think what that means -- to cut to the chase -- is this comes down to a decision by Israel whether or not it will use military force against Iran's program.'

"'At this point there is very little that will stop Iran,' Bolton added. 'The most likely outcome, unfortunately, is that Iran is going to get nuclear weapons, and I think sooner rather than later.'"

Britain's War on Christianity: America's Future Fight?
By: Dale Hurd / CBN.com / January 01, 2010

"At her coronation, Queen Elizabeth, like British monarchs before her, promised to "maintain the laws of God and the true profession of the gospel." But today, Britain is at war with the gospel, and with itself.

"British Christians who take their faith into the workplace risk being demoted or fired. The government continues to push an aggressive gay rights agenda, while threatening to criminalize Christian speech and practice."

Unforeseen Rise of Asia Creates New World Order
By: Tidjane Thiam / TimesOnline.com / January 25, 2010

rise of asia

"The theme of this year's World Economic Forum meeting in Davos is undeniably ambitious: 'Improve the State of the World: Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild.' Such aspirations reflect the timing of this year's event, as economies around the world look to rebuild confidence after the global financial crisis.

"In the 1960s, even the most optimistic would have found it hard to imagine Asia's achievements of recent years.

" . . . The transformation since then has been nothing short of extraordinary. I do not recognise the countries I visited during my first trip to Asia, in 1984.

"'A changed world order is upon us,' Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's Minister Mentor, said in Washington last year. It is time for Asia to use its stronger voice to take a more prominent role in this new world order.

"I view Asia as consisting of four distinct groups."

Economists: Another Financial Crisis On The Way
Nonpartisan Group Led by Nobel Winner Calls for Stronger Financial Reforms
By: Matthew Jaffe / The International Forecaster.com / March 2, 2010

"Even as many Americans still struggle to recover from the country's worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, another crisis -- one that will be even worse than the current one -- is looming."

Finally, I see in current news, that there have been riots at the Damascus gate of Old Jerusalem and the Temple Mount Faithful Movement is in court trying to get permission to sacrifice a Passover Lamb on the Temple Mount. Last year this was the area that erupted when the Temple Mount Faithful stormed the Al Aksa Mosque. This could be another interesting year at Passover in Jerusalem
