Preparing for Economic Collapse

Introduction
Are you preparing for an economic collapse? If you are watching what is going on the world you are likely thinking of that scenario. If not a collapse, at least severe financial upheavals seem to be on the horizon. This would lead to all sorts of serious problems in society. Here are some articles that are not so much about how to prepare as they are about why you should be considering the possibility and thinking about preparing for economic collapse or something close to it.

"A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished." (Pro 22:3)

There are troublous times ahead and part of the function of this newsletter is to forewarn you; not of specific events (I am not a prophet) but of the trend of society and the sorts of things that we can expect in the near future.

Note that I am simply sharing items of interest. That does not imply that I agree with everything presented.

"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars ... nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes ..." (Matt 24:6-7)

Preparing for Economic Collapse

A Wave Of Anger Is Sweeping The Cities Of The World
The Economist, July 1, 2013

A familar face appeared in many of the protests taking place in scores of cities on three continents this week: a Guy Fawkes mask with a roguish smile and a pencil-thin moustache.

The mask belongs to "V", a character in a graphic novel from the 1980s who became the symbol for a group of computer hackers called Anonymous. His contempt for government resonates with people all over the world.

The protests have many different origins. In Brazil people rose up against bus fares, in Turkey against a building project. Indonesians have rejected higher fuel prices, Bulgarians the government's cronyism.

In the euro zone they march against austerity, and the Arab spring has become a perma-protest against pretty much everything. Each angry demonstration is angry in its own way.

DHS Insider: It's About to Get Very Ugly
"This is bigger than you can imagine, bigger than anyone can imagine...."

DHS Insider
"This is bigger than you can imagine,
bigger than anyone can imagine...."

Washington, D.C. -- Something quite unexpected happened just hours ago.

"While I was in the middle of a perfectly good and well needed sleep in the very early hours of this morning, I received a message. I cannot disclose how I received this message, at least not now. The discerning reader will understand why, which, by the way, would make a very interesting story alone. The message was extremely clear and precise.

"I was to come alone and make certain that I was not being followed, and I was to leave any cell phone or electronic device behind.

The details

"If anyone thinks that what's going on right now with all of this surveillance of American citizens is to fight some sort of foreign enemy, they're delusional. If people think that this 'scandal' can't get any worse, it will, hour by hour, day by day. This has the ability to bring down our national leadership, the administration and other senior elected officials working in collusion with this administration, both Republican and Democrats. People within the NSA, the Department of Justice, and others, they know who they are, need to come forth with the documentation of 'policy and practice' in their possession, disclose what they know, fight what's going on, and just do their job. I have never seen anything like this, ever.

"My source provided additional information, but I am abiding by his wish to get this much out. I am writing now to let people know that we are in for seriously dangerous times ahead. Deadly times. War, and censorship under the color of authority and under the pretext of national security. It's about to get a lot uglier. Stay tuned."

Post: Why Things Will Get Worse -- Much Worse
By: Monty Pelerin / Econimic Noise.com / June 12, 2013

Power tends to corrupt
Ultimately the economy will collapse
and freedom will be lost.

"It is easy to be upset about what is happening all around. The economy is being destroyed, deliberately, by insane economic policies. Incentives to work are being eliminated by punishing work. At the same time rewards are increasing for not working. Not surprisingly we get less of what we penalize (work) and more of what we subsidize (non-work).

"As an economist I get sick over what I see happening to what was once a great engine of productivity, capital creation and improvements in standards of living.

"After two centuries of progress that amazed the world, the conditions necessary for growth and productivity are steadily being removed. Their presence allowed the miracle of America. Their absence guarantees the decline. Carried to extreme, the US could become a second- or third-world nation within a few decades. Virtually all changes in the last five to ten years point in this direction and these changes are accelerating."

The World Is Now On The Edge Of Total Collapse
KingWorldNews.com / June 23, 2013

Fed Printing Money
The Fed ... will keep printing more money
because they are trapped.

"With investors around the world concerned about the tremendous turbulence in global markets, including gold and silver, today Egon von Greyerz warned King World News that ....

"Below is what Greyerz, who is founder of Matterhorn Asset Management out of Switzerland, had to say in this powerful interview.

"Greyerz: 'Eric, the whole world is panicking over Bernanke's hint that the Fed might start tapering QE.

"'... let's first look at other areas of the world where we have major problems.

"'Fitch just came out and said that China's credit model is falling apart. The liquidity in China is under tremendous pressure.

"'The shadow banking system is now at $2 trillion and 50% of debt is rolled over every 3 months, and 75% of China's debt is rolled over every 3 to 6 months.

"'So short-term things are very dangerous ....

"'Credit has grown in China from $9 trillion to $23 trillion since the Lehman Brothers crisis. Now total credit is over 200% of GDP.

"'We are seeing the same thing in the US.

"'Both China and the US are printing more and more money and not getting any return for it.

"'Of course Japan is even worse ....

"'You have collapsing balance of payments and collapsing savings. You also have a population which is collapsing. Population will go from 125 million to 90 million over the next 35 years. There won't be enough young people to pay for the old.

"'If we move to Europe, we have the Greek bond market plunging again and now the IMF is saying they are going to pull the plug. Germany, the strongest nation, is now finding itself under economic pressure.

"'What I am saying .... is there are enough problems in the rest of the world that will necessitate printing by the Fed because we are talking about a totally interconnected system. So even if the Fed thinks they won't have to print for the US, as the rest of the world implodes the US will be forced to print whether they want to or not.'"

Crash Warning!
Martin D. Weiss, Ph.D. / MoneyandMarkets.com / June 24, 2013

Buckle Up
If you have profits in your stock portfolio,
you can't go wrong by taking some of
them off the table right now.

"It's time to give you an advance warning of a market crash on the near horizon.

Bonds:

"Long-term bonds first began plunging this year in Japan. Then, the crash spread to the U.S. and abroad.

"And just this past week, it began to accelerate in a big way.

"Morever, even if central banks continue printing money like crazy, the law of diminishing returns has already begun to strike, says Mike: The more bonds that central banks buy up, the less they get for their money in terms of lowering bond yields.

Commodities:

"Gold has just plunged by the most in two years. Silver, palladium, platinum and most commodities have also been smacked down.

"These are all moves that Larry Edelson has warned us about ....

"And as he said in our interview published this past Saturday, we're now very close to a major bottom in gold, probably in the $1,100-$1,200 per-ounce area, setting the stage for the next phase in gold's bull market to $5,000 and beyond."

Stocks:

While you are preparing for economic collapse, you might keep an eye on the Middle east situation and especially Iran. It may well be the key to the beginning of the crisis.

Iran's Primary Target NOT Israel?
By: Aaro Klein / CNBC.com / May 30, 2013

TEL AVIV -- U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf and Arab intelligence services have noted the establishment of Iranian missile launch sites aimed in the direction of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, according to Egyptian and Jordanian intelligence officials speaking to WND.

"The U.S. and Arab countries are investigating whether Iran has a working plan to retaliate not only by firing missiles at Israel but by targeting Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the event of a U.S. or Israeli strike on Tehran's nuclear infrastructure, the officials said.

"The officials further said they believe Iran estimates that striking oil and gas resources in Qatar or Saudi Arabia would raise more pressure on the Obama administration to stop an Israeli offensive than only targeting Israel. They said they believe Qatar and Saudi Arabia could be primary targets even if it is only Israel that strikes Iran."

There are many factors that will contribute to the collapse and the environment and its associated economic and social costs is one of them. While you are preparing for an economic collapse also be thinking about how you and your family will cope with environmental changes, more severe weather etc.

NOAA: 2013 Dead-zone in Gulf of Mexico to be among largest ever recorded
June 20, 2013

Oceanic dead one

GULF OF MEXICO - Scientists are expecting a very large "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico and a smaller than average hypoxic level in the Chesapeake Bay this year, based on several NOAA-supported forecast models. NOAA-supported modelers at the University of Michigan, Louisiana State University, and the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium are forecasting that this year's Gulf of Mexico hypoxic "dead" zone will be between 7,286 and 8,561 square miles, which could place it among the ten largest recorded. That would range from an area the size of Connecticut, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia combined on the low end to the New Jersey on the upper end. The high estimate would exceed the largest ever reported, 8,481 square miles in 2002. Hypoxic (very low oxygen) and anoxic (no oxygen) zones are caused by excessive nutrient pollution, often from human activities such as agriculture, which results in insufficient oxygen to support most marine life in near-bottom waters. Aspects of weather, including wind speed, wind direction, precipitation and temperature, also impact the size of dead zones. The Gulf estimate is based on the assumption of no significant tropical storms in the two weeks preceding or during the official measurement survey cruise scheduled from July 25-August 3, 2013. If a storm does occur the size estimate could drop to a low of 5344 square miles, slightly smaller than the size of Connecticut. This year's prediction for the Gulf reflects flood conditions in the Midwest that caused large amounts of nutrients to be transported from the Mississippi watershed to the Gulf. Last year's dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico was the fourth smallest on record due to drought conditions, covering an area of approximately 2,889 square miles, an area slightly larger than the state of Delaware.

There seems to be a recent marked increase in earthquake and volcanic activity. I will try to include something about that in the next issue.

Summary
There seems to be a great number of signs pointing to very troublous times ahead in our world. It will be a future blessing to anyone who now takes the time to prepare for the future. This prepartion includes not just preparing for an economic collapse but also your physical and mental health, your social network, your home situation and, especially, your spiritual life. You need a connection with God and a love for Him and His ways.

I would greatly encourage you to watch the following 15-minute video of some of the signs of the times in our environment within the last month.

"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." (Luke 21:28)
