Japan: Earthquake, Tsunami, Nuclear Emergency

In Japan, an earthquake is nothing new. However, this was their strongest on record and was accompanied by a massive tsunami and, in the aftermath, a nuclear emergency. We are seeing more and more and stronger and stronger earthquakes as time passes. Some blame God or say that, in the case of this earthquake, he is getting back at the Japanese for their support of the Palestinians, the enemies of Israel. However, it is Satan who is the destroyer, not God. There is an item this month also for the gardeners - or, actually, for the non-gardeners.

Note that I am simply sharing items of interest. That does not imply that I agree with everything presented.

Japan Earthquake 9.0

Japan Earthquake Alters Coast Line, Changes Earth's Axis
VOA News and Reuters.com / March 12, 2011

The massive earthquake that hit Japan on Friday was so powerful that it changed the shape of the country's coastline and shifted the earth's axis.

Geophysicist Kenneth Hudnut, who works for the U.S. Geological Survey, told CNN that the quake moved part of Japan's land mass by nearly 2.5 meters.

Experts say that the huge shake, caused by a shift in the tectonic plates deep underwater, also threw the earth off its axis point by at least 8 centimeters.

Thousands of people were unaccounted for in Japan on Saturday, a day after the 8.9 earthquake shook the country and giant tsunami waves crashed 10 kilometers inland in the northeast.

Some information for this report was provided by Reuters.

Japan Today, Jerusalem Tomorrow
Exclusive: Joel Richardson notes, "Increase in earthquakes point to Jesus' return"

"A new poll conducted by the National Association of Evangelicals reveals that a majority of its members would agree that the recent earthquakes in Haiti, New Zealand and Japan are signs of the soon coming return of Jesus.

"The survey shows that more than half of respondents adhere to the theological position known as Premillennialism, which interprets the Book of Revelation to be speaking of yet future events. In contrast, only 17 percent of those polled say they believe most biblical prophecy has already been fulfilled.

"I recently appeared on a popular Detroit radio station alongside fellow author, prophecy expert and friend, Gary Demar, to discuss and debate these issues. Demar is one of the most outspoken voices for the minority of evangelicals who believe that through the influence of the Christian church, the world is gradually improving and will eventually reach a 'Christianized' golden age. This fairly modern position has made some gains within mainstream Evangelicalism over the past few decades.

"Many in the Charismatic Christian movement, through the influence of what is called the New Apostolic Reformation Movement, have also embraced this position. On the other end of the political spectrum, many liberal-leaning 'Emergent' or anti-Zionist Evangelicals, such as Brian McClaren, Stephen Sizer, Gary Burge and Andrew Perriman, also argue that the events described in the Book of Revelation are now history. A survey of the arguments that dominate social media and Christian forums will reveal that the Christian church today is quite divided over this theological question.

"So do the recent earthquakes in Haiti, New Zealand and Japan have any relevance with regard to the return of Jesus? Absolutely. If we consider the words of Jesus as well as some very stunning earthquake statistics, then a clear picture emerges, pointing to the soon coming of the return of Jesus."

'World Economy Will Fall if Revolts Spread to S. Arabia'
The Biggest Day of 2011? A wealthy businessman says a single day will soon change the US forever

world economy will fail

"'If something like we have seen in Egypt or Libya happens in Saudi Arabia, we're talking about a catastrophic scenario that will bring a global economic meltdown."

"Talking to Gal Luft about security and the effect of oil on the global economy is not for the faint of heart. The executive director of the Washington-based think tank, the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, spoke to The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday during the fourth annual Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Conference, in a 45-minute conversation that described the petroleum tightrope on which the world's economies are teetering.

"'The world needs to wake up to the fact that if a country like Saudi Arabia follows the same path we've seen in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya, it would be a very, very dangerous situation for every economy in the world -- the rich and poor alike,' said Luft. 'The first thing that will happen is, the poor people of the world will starve; there will be no oil to distribute food in places like Africa. Then all the world markets will collapse.'

"He noted that 'every single recession since World War I except for one has been preceded by an oil crisis. When there is an oil crisis, very shortly after, you see a major recession."

Farrakhan: Mideast Uprisings Will Come to U.S.
By: Becky Schlikerman / Chicago Breaking News.com / February 21, 2011

farrakhan

"Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan predicted on Sunday that America faces imminent uprisings that mirror those in the Middle East.

"'What you are looking at in Tunisia, in Egypt . . . Libya, in Bahrain . . .what you see happening there . . . you'd better prepare because it will be coming to your door,' Farrakhan said in a booming voice, thousands of followers cheering in his wake.

"Farrakhan also called on President Barack Obama to allow protesters to march, urging the president not to attack innocent people when they do.

"The controversial minister spoke to a packed house at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont as part of the 81st annual celebration of Saviours' Day, which marks the birth of the faith's founder, W. Fard Muhammad.

"The keynote address, titled 'God will send saviours,' capped a weekend of workshops focused on health, preparing for natural disasters and unidentified flying objects. The Nation of Islam believes in a UFO called "the wheel" or "the Mother Plane."

"Farrakhan has described a 1985 religious experience in which he ascended into a flying saucer and heard the voice of Elijah Muhammad predicting historical events that came to pass."

Garden As If Your Life Depended On It, Because It Does
There are at least five reasons why more of us should take up the spade, make some compost, and start gardening with a vengeance.

garden as if

"Spring has sprung -- at least south of the northern tier of states where snow still has a ban on it -- and the grass has 'riz. And so has the price of most foods, which is particularly devastating just now when so many Americans are unemployed, underemployed . . .

"In some American towns, and not just impoverished backwaters, as many as 30 percent of residents can't afford to feed themselves and their families sufficiently, let alone nutritiously.

"In some cases this round of price hikes on everything from cereal and steak to fresh veggies and bread -- and even the flour that can usually be bought cheaply to make it -- will be temporary. But over the long term the systems that have provided most Americans with a diversity, quantity and quality of foods envied by the rest of the world are not going to be as reliable as they were.
