Zika Virus

Introduction

The Zika virus is the newest health threat to suddenly appear. As if we needed one more challenge! Pregnant or potentially pregnant women travelling to certain countries need to be especially careful. And now there are bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics. It's time to learn how to take care of our own health as much as possible. We are still getting radiation from Fukushima that will be around for years to come. There are many challenges to our poor planet. Well they may have just discovered another one in our solar system. However, it is orbiting much to far from the goldilocks zone relative to our sun. I'm not packing my bags for that one.

Another item of interest reports evidence from dinosaur remains that they are not nearly as old as is commonly believed which supports the time-line of the Bible.

Then there are articles about ISIS and the increase in persecution of Christians that occurred within the last year.

The economy is also showing signs of trouble as it has been doing for years. The crash may come soon or it may be delayed for some time yet - those angels are still holding the winds of strife. (Rev 7:1)

Note that I am simply sharing items of interest. That does not imply that I agree with everything presented or with other material that may be on a source's other web pages.

Concerns over Zika virus outbreak growing in U.S.

CBS News, Jan. 21, 2016

Zika Virus

U.S. health officials are reporting new cases of a mosquito-borne virus linked to birth defects.

Three cases of the Zika virus have been confirmed in Florida, and two pregnant women tested positive in Illinois. Texas and Hawaii also have confirmed cases, including a baby born with a birth defect.

The growing cases at home are traced back to overseas, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a travel alert over the virus, warning pregnant women to avoid some of the most popular American vacation destinations, reports Elaine Quijano of CBS News' digital network, CBSN.

In the handful of confirmed cases in the U.S., those infected traveled outside of the country and tested positive once they got home.

The Zika virus is caused by the Aedes mosquito. It's been determined women can pass the virus to their babies, causing birth defects.

The CDC's warning to pregnant women is clear: If you have the symptoms, see a doctor and get tested for an infection.

Bacteria Resistant to ALL Antibiotics Now in the United Kingdom

After found in China, Denmark
Julie Fidler Jan. 2, 2106

Resistant Bacteria

First it showed up in China, then Denmark and now it has reared its ugly head in the United Kingdom. Bacteria resistant to all forms of antibiotics are making their way around the globe.

Chinese health officials announced in late November that bacteria containing the MCR-1 gene had been discovered in livestock as well as 1,322 hospitalized patients. Then, the same pathogen was discovered in Denmark when a patient in one of the nation's hospitals was diagnosed with an untreatable form of salmonella.

The superbugs were also detected in Africa, and are believed to have traveled to Laos and Malaysia. Experts say they likely got to Britain via global travel and food imports.

The bacteria have since made their way into England on 3 farms and in samples of human infections.

The MCR-1 gene is "mobile DNA" that can be easily copied and transferred between different bacteria, making it easy for it to spread and diversify between bacterial populations, Scientific American explained in a December 19 article.

The gene makes infections resistant to all polymyxin antibiotics, including colistic, which are the last line of defense when all other antibiotics have failed.

The fear is that MCR-1 could transfer to other bacteria and turn them into superbugs, too.

Feds: California reservoirs only half full after big storms

Scott Smith, AP, Jan. 22, 1016

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - The recent onslaught of El Nino storms only slightly increased the levels of California reservoirs that now stand at half of historic depths for this time of year, federal officials said Friday while releasing an initial water outlook for 2016.

The federally operated reservoirs that supply farms and cities throughout the agriculture-rich Central Valley are now 49 percent full, compared with 47 percent on Oct. 1, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation said.

Much of the heavy rainfall in recent weeks has soaked into the landscape left parched by four years of drought, and the snowpack in the Sierra Nevada has grown but hasn't started to melt off and replenish the critically low reservoirs, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation spokesman Shane Hunt said.

"It's been raining and snowing," he said. "It's going to take a lot more."

...

The state Department of Water Resources, which manages part of California's vast water system, said in early December that it anticipated releasing 10 percent of supplies sought by farmers this year - half of the last year's allocation.

Huge Fukushima Cover-Up Exposed, Government Scientists In Meltdown

by Sean Adl-Tabatabai, Dec. 18, 2015

Fukushima
Fukushima radiation just off the North American coast is higher now than it has ever been, and government scientists and mainstream press are scrambling to cover-up and downplay the ever-increasing deadly threat that looms for millions of Americans.

Following the March 2011 meltdown at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, reactors have sprayed immeasurable amounts of radioactive material into the air, most of which settled into the Pacific Ocean. A study by the American Geophysical Union has found that radiation levels from Alaska to California have increased and continue to increase since they were last taken.

Naturalnews.com reports:

The highest levels yet of radiation from the disaster were found in a sample taken 2,500 kilometers (approx. 1,550 miles) west of San Francisco.

"Safe" according to whom?

Lead researcher Ken Buesseler of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution was one of the first people to begin monitoring Fukushima radiation in the Pacific Ocean, with his first samples taken three months after the disaster started. In 2014, he launched a citizen monitoring effort - Our Radioactive Ocean - to help collect more data on ocean-borne radioactivity.

The researchers track Fukushima radiation by focusing on the isotope Cesium-134, which has a half-life of only two years. All Cesium-134 in the ocean likely comes from the Fukushima disaster. In contrast, Cesium-137 - also released in huge quantities from Fukushima - has a half-life of 30 years, and persists in the ocean, not just from Fukushima, but also from nuclear tests conducted as far back as the 1950s.

The most recent study added 110 new Cesium-134 samples to the ongoing studies. These samples were an average of 11 Becquerels per cubic meter of sea water, a level 50 percent higher than other samples taken so far.

Instead of presenting the findings as an alarming sign of growing radiation, however, Buesseler emphasizes that the Cesium-134 levels detected are still 500 times lower than the drinking water limits set by the U.S. government. The news site The Big Wobble questions whether Buesseler and Woods Hole's heavy financial reliance on the U.S. government - Woods Hole has received nearly $8 million in research funding from several government agencies – plays any role in this emphasis.

Situation still worsening
The reality, however, is that radiation along the West Coast is expected to keep getting worse. ...

Astronomers' findings point to a ninth planet, and it's not Pluto

Los Angeles Times Amina Khan Jan. 20, 2106

Ninth Planet

The scientist who killed Pluto says there may be nine planets in the solar system after all.

Caltech astronomer Mike Brown and his astrophysicist colleague Konstantin Batygin say they've found compelling evidence that a giant planet orbits the sun in the dark, distant badlands far beyond Neptune.

This so-called Planet Nine, described Wednesday in the Astronomical Journal, is about 10 times more massive than Earth and takes 10,000 to 20,000 Earth years to circle the sun, according to their calculations. For the sake of comparison, Neptune makes its round trip in 165 years.

If its existence is confirmed by powerful telescopes on Earth, Planet Nine would rewrite our definition of the solar system and help solve some mysteries about its violent past.

"In more than 150 years, we have the first observational evidence that the planetary census of the solar system is incomplete," said Batygin, the study's lead author. "We're truly living in a special time."

Massive Dinosaur Soft Tissue Discovery In China - Includes Skin And Feathers!

Michael Snyder

Dinosaurs

A fossil bed in China that is being called "Jurassic Park" has yielded perhaps the greatest dinosaur soft tissue discovery of all time. According to media reports, "nearly-complete skeletons" have been discovered that even include skin and feathers. But of course if these dinosaurs are really "160 million years old", that should be absolutely impossible. Needless to say, this shocking discovery is once again going to have paleontologists scrambling to find a way to prop up the popular myths that they have been promoting. What they have been telling us simply does not fit the facts. The truth is that this latest find is even more evidence that dinosaurs are far, far younger than we have traditionally been taught.

Once upon a time, scientists believed that it would be impossible to find anything other than the hardened fossilized remains of extinct dinosaurs. And if those dinosaurs really were millions of years old, those scientists would have been 100% correct. But instead, we are now starting to find dinosaur soft tissue all over the place.

...

The dinosaurs and other Mesozoic creatures that have yielded their biological material are hadrosaur, titanosaur, ornithomimosaur [ostrich-like dinosaurs], mosasaur, triceratops, Lufengosaurs, T. rex, and Archaeopteryx.

When Schweitzer originally made her discovery public, she was viciously attacked by other evolutionists who insisted that finding dinosaur soft tissue that was millions of years old was absolutely impossible.

And those evolutionists were right.

If the dinosaurs were really that old it would be impossible. ...

ISIS calls on Muslim couples in the West to imitate San Bernardino shooters

The Jerusalem Post, Maayan Groisman Jan. 20, 2016

San Bernadino

ISIS' magazine describes the shooting attack as "unique," since "the Khilafah's call for the Muslims to strike the crusaders in their own lands was answered by a jihadist operating with his wife."

In the new volume of its English-language magazine, Dabiq, released on Wednesday, ISIS encourages married Muslim couples in the West to follow in the footsteps of the Muslim married couple who carried out the San Bernardino, California shooting attack in December.

The shooting attack in San Bernardino took place on December 2, 2015, when Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, opened fire at a holiday party at the Inland Regional center in San Bernardino, killing 14 people and injuring 22 others.

The magazine describes the shooting attack as "unique," since "the Khilafah's (Islamic Caliphate) call for the Muslims to strike the crusaders in their own lands was answered once more" - but this time, by a jihadist operating together with his wife, not alone.

ISIS praised Tashfeen Malik, who participated in the operation and gained martyrdom after being killed by security forces, "despite the fact that combat is not even obligatory upon her."

The organization praised the sacrifice of the San Bernardino couple, who "left behind not only their comfortable lifestyle, but also their baby daughter, knowing that they would never see her again."

New issue of ISIS magazine Dabiq calls for war on . . . Muslims

Perry Chiarmonte Jan. 2, 2016

ISIS

The latest issue of Islamic State's online magazine targets the terror group's fellow Muslims even more than the West.

Dabiq, as the English-language publication is called, devotes a majority of the 56 pages in the latest issue to justifying the killing of Shia Muslims. In numerous articles, the magazine goes to great lengths to give a theological basis for killing members of the minority Muslim sect that controls Iran and Iraq and has been at odds with Sunni Muslims for over a millennia.

"The magazine spends so much time justifying the killing of innocent Shiites that it suggests that ISIL is frustrated that too few Sunnis favor sectarian massacres," Ryan Mauro, a national security analyst for the Clarion Project, said. "ISIS is making the argument because it sees a problem it needs to address."

Report: 2015 Saw 'Most Violent' Persecution of Christians in Modern History

Thomas D. Williams, Ph.D. Jan. 20, 2016

Christian Persecution

The brutal, worldwide persecution of Christians during the past year makes 2015 "the most violent and sustained attack on Christian faith in modern history," according to a watchdog organization that has been monitoring Christian persecution for decades.

Open Doors, an organization founded in 1955 to assist persecuted Christians, publishes an annual "World Watch List," documenting attacks on Christians and ranking the most hostile national environments for believers.

"The 2016 World Watch List documents an unprecedented escalation of violence against Christians, making this past year the most violent and sustained attack on Christian faith in modern history," Open Doors CEO David Curry said at the rollout of the list.

Persecution in "continuing to increase, intensify and spread across the globe," he said.

The U.S. Is At The Center Of The Global Economic Meltdown

Brandon Smith Jan. 20, 2016

Economic breakdown

While the economic implosion progresses this year, there will be considerable misdirection and disinformation as to the true nature of what is taking place. As I have outlined in the past, the masses were so ill informed by the mainstream media during the Great Depression that most people had no idea they were actually in the midst of an "official" depression until years after it began. The chorus of economic journalists of the day made sure to argue consistently that recovery was "right around the corner." Our current depression has been no different, but something is about to change.

Unlike the Great Depression, social crisis will eventually eclipse economic crisis in the U.S. That is to say, our society today is so unequipped to deal with a financial collapse that the event will inevitably trigger cultural upheaval and violent internal conflict. In the 1930s, nearly 50% of the American population was rural. Farmers made up 21% of the labor force. Today, only 20% of the population is rural. Less than 2% work in farming and agriculture. That's a rather dramatic shift from a more independent and knowledgeable land-utilizing society to a far more helpless and hapless consumer-based system.

What's the bottom line? About 80% of the current population in the U.S. is more than likely inexperienced in any meaningful form of food production and self-reliance.

The rationale for lying to the public is certainly there. Economic and political officials could argue that to reveal the truth of our fiscal situation would result in utter panic and immediate social breakdown. When 80% of the citizenry is completely unprepared for a decline in the mainstream grid, a loss of savings through falling equities and a loss of buying power through currency destruction, their first response to such dangers would be predictably uncivilized.

Of course, the powers-that-be are not really interested in protecting the American people from themselves. They are interested only in positioning their own finances and resources in the most advantageous investments while using our loss and fear to extract more centralization, more control and more consent. Thus, the hiding of economic decline is enacted because the decline itself is useful to the elites.

And just to be clear for those who buy into the propaganda, the U.S. is indeed in a speedy decline.
